What appeals to you about buying a brand new mobile phone? Is it the lack of damage, the fact that everything works, or the simple fact that you’ll have the latest model?
These are all big advantages, but they aren’t necessarily worth the price of a new phone. You can often get all of the same advantages by buying used, and you could save a huge amount of money without compromising on anything except the box.
What is a Grade A Used Phone?
Every retailer and used mobile phone wholesaler has their own grading definitions, and you’ll usually find detailed information on their website. We’re proud to have a very strict definition for Grade A phones, which ensures that customers only get the very best devices at this price point.
Our Grade A phones are split into two categories: Grade A, and Grade A Pristine.
Grade A phones offer a good balance of quality and low cost. At Grade A, you can expect to receive a phone that has very minor signs of use. So it may have a scratch or two on the case or bezel, but you’d have to look very hard to find it. Typically, this is the kind of wear you’d see after a few weeks’ careful use, probably with a screen protector.
As the name suggests, Grade A Pristine phones are the best used mobile phones you can buy. At this grade, we don’t let anything slip. We call these phones “almost perfect”, because they’re pretty much the same condition you would expect if you bought a phone from a retailer new. It may be that the previous user bought the phone, used it for a few hours, or a few days, and then decided they didn’t want it.
At both of these grades, we check that the phone is unlocked to any network. We alsoensure that the phone is not locked to services like iCloud, and all of the data from the previous owner has been removed.
So when you compare either of these gradings to a brand new phone, the difference is minimal. In fact, in some cases, there may be no difference at all.
What About the Functionality of Used Phones?
We haven’t yet looked at functionality, or the features on the phones, at Grade A or Grade A Pristine.
The reason for this is simple: all of our phones are unlocked, and they are all fully tested.
So if you buy a Grade A Pristine phone, or you opt for a Grade A, everything on that phone will work as intended: the screen, the speakers, and the buttons, for example. Every phone is electronically tested on at least 20 important features, so there are no nasty surprises.
To summarise: compared to a brand new phone, both gradings offer the same functionality that you’d expect from a new, boxed device.
